Mens et methodus
Begin

Elite scientific tutoring in Nice and Monaco — mathematics, physics, computer science. Sixth form, classes préparatoires, Grandes Écoles.

I. A transmission

Excellence in scientific instruction is not the mere transmission of knowledge. It is the patient art of structuring a mind, of forging discipline, and of leading a pupil from passive comprehension to the active mastery of the great architectures of mathematical and physical reasoning.

II. What sets it apart

Six commitments that exist only in this method.

No improvised lesson, no marketing promise, no shopfront. The Méthode Riviera holds to six firm rules — applied without exception, from the first session.

Mandatory initial assessment

No session before the written diagnostic. The method begins by mapping the pupil — not by selling a lesson.

No group lessons. Ever.

Individual tuition is the only modality. No groups, no virtual classes, no cohort intensives.

Monthly written report to parents

A monthly summary of gains, gaps, upcoming milestones. Parents have a compass throughout the year.

Reading the examination panels

Mines, Polytechnique, ENS papers have been dissected for ten years to identify the patterns that distinguish the top of the class.

Dedicated oral preparation

Simulations under real examination conditions — duration, panel, blackboard. Orals are worked on from the end of the first preparatory year.

Withdrawal without fee or explanation

If the engagement ceases to serve the pupil, it stops immediately. No duration commitment is required.

III. The Method

Five pillars, a single thread.

From the initial diagnostic to the eve of the examinations, the method unfolds in five pillars governing every engagement. They do not substitute one for another : they follow in sequence, and the strength of the edifice rests on the order in which they are laid.

Diagnostic and personal plan

An initial interview, a written assessment, an individual programme. No two pupils are treated alike.

Mastery of fundamentals

A refusal of exercise drills without theoretical grounding. Concepts first, their application second.

Architecture of reasoning

Explicit teaching of mental schemas and the classical heuristics proper to each scientific discipline.

Deliberate practice

Graded exercises, corrected one by one, written record of recurring errors — turning weakness into focused attention.

Examination preparation

Examination strategy, time management, oral performance, mental hygiene. Competition is a discipline of its own.

IV. The territory

Anchored on the French Riviera.

Scientific tutoring in Nice, Beaulieu-sur-Mer, Villefranche-sur-Mer, Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, Cap d'Ail and Monaco.

V. A different practice

Conventional tutoring and Méthode Riviera, line by line.

Conventional tutoring responds to the pupil's demand. The method anticipates — through a written plan, a rhythm, and a documented measurement of progress.

Lessons improvised around upcoming exercises

Written annual plan from the initial assessment, termly milestones

On-demand, occasional support, no follow-up

Structured weekly engagement throughout the school year

No formal feedback to the parents

Monthly written report addressed to the parents

Application exercises, marked alone

Graded exercises corrected one by one, register of recurring errors

Preparation for school assessments only

Preparation for examinations and orals from Year 12 onwards

Hourly billing without visibility

Clear engagement quoted privately after the assessment

VII. The journey

From the first meeting to the examinations.

  1. Étape · 01

    Educational assessment

A thirty-minute interview, a written summary, with no commitment.

  2. Étape · 02

    Individual plan

Mapping of strengths, termly milestones, rhythm fitted to the pupil.

  3. Étape · 03

    Engagement

Weekly sessions, graded exercises, error register, sustained dialogue with parents.

  4. Étape · 04

    Examination preparation

Paper strategy, mock orals, mental hygiene, support through to the day itself.

VIII. Frequently asked

What families ask first.

How does the first exchange work?

A thirty-minute interview, by videoconference or in Nice, without commitment. At the close, a written summary is delivered to the parents: it records the firm ground, the blind spots, and the proposed milestones. No session is billed until this assessment has been delivered and validated.

When should the engagement begin?

From Year 11 (Seconde) to prepare comfortably for the Mathematics specialisation in Year 12 and 13. For classes préparatoires scientifiques, ideally at entry into MPSI or PCSI. For examinations, six to twelve months ahead of the papers. It is never too late to structure a recovery — though it is rather late to target the top three Mines-Ponts schools starting from zero with four months to go.

Are the lessons in person or remote?

Both. In person for families based in Nice, Beaulieu, Villefranche, Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, Cap d'Ail or Monaco. Via high-definition videoconference for pupils outside the region, or where schedules are constrained. The pedagogical quality is identical across both modalities — what matters is the rhythm and regularity, not the channel.

How are fees set?

Fees are communicated after the initial assessment, depending on programme, rhythm and duration of engagement. They are never displayed publicly — the method does not compete on price. See the Fees page for indicative ranges.

What guarantee is offered on results?

No numerical guarantee is promised — that would be dishonest. The commitment is to method, regularity, documented progress, and immediate withdrawal should the engagement cease to serve the pupil. The admissions documented on the Results page speak to the outcome; the path belongs to each family.

X. Begin

The first exchange is complimentary.

Thirty minutes by videoconference or in person in Nice. Without commitment on either side should the engagement not prove appropriate.
